MANILA, Philippines — Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Friday said the war games between Manila and Washington will see the emergence of a “full scale” battle simulation.
Teodoro made the announcement during the closing ceremony of Exercise “Balikatan” in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
He added President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is anticipating the unprecedented scale of next year’s war games.
“He (Marcos) looks forward to next year’s exercise which will be, I believe, a full battle simulation which will put to the test the combined capabilities in the most realistic of scenarios possible, with safety in mind,” Teodoro said in his speech.
MANILA, Philippines — Another big-time oil price rollback is expected during the second week of May.
Citing four-day trading prices, the Department of Energy announced on Friday that gasoline prices could decrease by up to P2.25 per liter, while diesel prices may see a maximum reduction of P0.85 per liter.
Meanwhile, kerosene prices are also anticipated to decrease by as much as P1.00 per liter.
Last week, oil companies also rolled back its pump prices.
One of the four Filipino seafarers on a ship seized by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards has been released and will be returning to the Philippines later Friday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
“The Philippines welcomes the good news that one of the four Filipino seamen at the MSC Aries has been released and is arriving home later today. We appreciate Iran’s gesture and the intercession of India in this matter,” the foreign affairs department said in a statement posted on X.
It added the DFA is working with the Department of Migrant Workers for the release and repatriation of the 3 other Filipino seafarers on the ship.
“We hope for their eventual speedy return to their homes and families,” it added.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday said there has been no report that active police officials were planning to oust him from power.
In an ambush interview in General Santos City, Marcos was asked to comment about the claim of former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV that retired and active high-ranking officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were plotting to remove him from office.
The President said that those who already retired from police service could be part of the alleged destabilization plot, if it is indeed in motion.
